Foundation C.A.S.C.O., established in 2003, is an independent voluntary organization of people with various national and cultural backgrounds, who have as goal to offer social assistance to seafarers of all nationalities, with special attention to crew on board of court seized ships, the so called chained ships, and to crew of ships for a longer period in a port.
Occassionaly social assistance is being offered to crew of inland vessels.
The volunteers visit seafarers of all nationalities and beliefs on board of their vessels, talk to them and listen to their needs. They provide the seafarers with information and advise them about various relevant areas such as medical prevention.
If required or requested the volunteers accompany the seafarers to agencies or medical healthcare.
In emergency situations they provide winter clothes and suplementary provisions. A special and very rewarding task of the volunteers is visiting seafarers who are hospitalized.
